Internships at Department of Biology

The School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics encourage all students to seek and participate in research or career related internship programs. The Department of Biology agrees with this philosophy. The department has created internship opportunities at Claflin University for its majors. We encourage all students to apply for internships within the department as well as elsewhere across the country and abroad. Our internship opportunities are provided from several sources: INBRE, EXPORT, EPSCoR, Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Department of Labor (DOL) , Rice & Maize.
Each year students participating in any internship are invited to submit an abstract of their research project to the Program Coordinator. The abstracts will be submitted to the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS), the South Carolina Academy of Science (SCAS), and/or the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). Each student intern is expected to orally present their research project at least once, and submit and defend a thesis during their senior year.
Please see the following links for more information about other available internships, opportunities.
