HBCU-up

The overall goal of HBCU-UP is to place Claflin University at the forefront of undergraduate science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. HBCU-UP continues to build and sustain the research and education capacity of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (SNSM) at Claflin University by addressing specific factors such as:

  • contribute to the retention, graduation and placement of students in the STEM workforce;
  • enhance the technological competencies of students through research-based courses;
  • provide content and research strategies to improve the pool of minority K-12 mathematics and science teachers.
