Procedures
for Application
Freshmen may not apply until after mid-term of the second semester of the freshman year. Students may pick up application forms from the Department.
Students must have an average of “C” or a 2.0 GPA in their general education courses.
Students transferring from departments within the institution or from other institutions must also demonstrate an average of “C”or a 2.0 GPA in their general education courses
Admissions Requirements:
Freshmen enrolled in developmental courses (e.g., ENGL 100 and EDUC 100) will not be allowed to take any of the mass communications freshman courses (MCOM 101, MCOM 102, MCOM 103) until they have passed the developmental courses. In order to remain in the Department of Mass Communications, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
Complete application for the major.
Complete all mass communications courses with a “C” or better
Satisfy all test requirements of the institution.
Have basic computer skills
Complete all requirements for graduation, including General Education courses, core mass communications courses, sequence courses and a minor or 18 hours of electives.
Complete the application for graduation.
Pass the Departmental Exit and Performance Examinations.
Complete three hours of electives
Complete a senior thesis/project and at least one internship.
