Welcome to the School of Education at Claflin University. As you peruse our site, you will learn how the School of Education fosters engaged learning which helps to develop effective and visionary leaders with global perspectives. The School of Education is home to three teacher certification programs (Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Middle Level Education), programs in Sport Management and Human Performance and Recreation, and the Air Force ROTC program hosted by Detachment 775 and the University of South Carolina. Additionally, the School of Education provides oversight of the Art, English, Mathematics, and Music teacher certification programs that are offered in their respective departments. We are pleased that all of our programs leading to teacher certification are recognized by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and approved by the South Carolina Board of Education.  

The School of Education offers dynamic and relevant programs that benefit our students and the communities we serve. Our diverse and hands-on faculty provide numerous opportunities for our students to put theory into practice through field experiences, practica, internships, student teaching, and involvement in faculty grants. Students in the School of Education have opportunities to work with preschool through high school students and teachers, English Language Learners and their families, practicing professionals, peers at other institutions, and each other. Our students organize and participate in charity basketball tournaments, health and wellness fairs, forums, and numerous other events. AFROTC students receive training to be commissioned as 2nd Lieutenants in the US Air Force upon graduation. All of these experiences allow students to develop their communication and leadership skills while engaging in both professional development and service activities. We recognize that the World Needs Visionaries, and we invite you to become one in the School of Education.
