Undergraduate Admissions

Entering as a Freshman

If you are a high school student or a high school graduate who has not attended college you will apply as a freshman.

Here's how to Apply:

Complete and submit the undergraduate application for admission. The application can be completed and submitted online. The same application can be printed and submitted by mail. You can also obtain the application from your high school guidance counselor’s office or by contacting or visiting the Claflin University Office of Admissions, which will assist you in your application process.

If you take advantage of our user friendly online application, you will also need to submit separately, via by mail, a $20.00 non-refundable application fee enclosing either a money order or cashier’s check payable to Claflin University.

Use any one of the following methods:

  1. Traditional paper application in the mail (click here to request a paper application to be mailed to your home)
  2. Apply electronically ( Click here and follow the instructions. Your application will be submitted to us electronically)

Personal checks are not accepted and please do not send cash through the mail.

After completing the application, a copy of the application should be given or submitted to the Guidance Department at your high school. Your high school counselor will furnish the university with the following:

  • Your transcripts, including currently enrolled courses, GPA, rank-in-class
  • SAT or ACT score
  • Counselor's recommendation form

Student who have achieved a a high school diploma through the General Education Development (GED) test must have the GED score sent to the
Office of Admissions.

NOTE: All materials submitted Claflin University become the property of the university and are not returned to the student or forwarded to any other party.

Admissions Decision:

Claflin University’s Office of Admissions will send you a written notification of your admission status after reviewing your completed file. If your application for admission is granted, we will send you:

  • Instructions for accepted students
  • Confirmation of acceptance form
  • Tuition, fees, room and boarding cost
  • Student housing application
  • Financial Aid application and information
  • Report of Medical History form

Claflin University Freshmen College will send you information on Orientation and Early Registration dates.

Financial Aid

Our Financial Aid Office, is staffed by experience and responsive professionals who will guide you through the financial aid process. You may apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. We encourge you submit the FAFSA online. To sign electronically, you and your parents must apply for a pin number at www.pin.ed.gov. Claflin's University school code is 003424. Please note tha t you cannot submit the FAFSA until you and your parent filed taxes.
