Academic Success Center (ASC)

The Academic Success Center (ASC) is a campus wide retention program designed to address the academic needs of enrolled students. The goal of the Center is to enhance the educational experience and success of students’ matriculation through graduation by providing a wide variety of services and resources that will improve their academic, personal, and social development at Claflin University.

Through services offered by the Academic Success Center, the Center is able to support and achieve the University’s objectives to provide student support programs, services and activities; promote student learning and enhance student development; and nurture the personal and academic growth of students by expanding intellectual and personal development in social, civic, and academic realms.

What services are offered in the Academic Success Center?
The Center offers academic advisement, counseling, individual and group tutoring, study skills and college survival services, peer mentoring, study sessions, and academic progress follow up.

Who is eligible to use services offered in the Academic Success Center (ASC)?
Services offered by the ASC are open to all enrolled Claflin University students.

How do I use the services offered in the Academic Success Center?
Visit the Center and complete a Request for Service form. Students who face academic challenges are referred to the Center by faculty, enrollment management, early warning, and academic probation. Referred are enrolled in the academic success program and required to schedule an appointment to receive services.

When are services available?
The Academic Success Center is open Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Tutoring services are available Monday – Thursday, 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Flexible hours are available upon the request of the student.
