Student Support Services Provided
Counseling
Each program student is assigned a counselor who provides academic and personal counseling. Counselors identify issues that interfere with academic
performance, collaborate with faculty and make referrals. They remain the students' primary contact. An individual education plan is developed for each student. Counselors also provide workshops to develop critical thinking and other academic skills..
Financial Aid Assistance
SSS provides assistance with the completion of forms for financial aid, forms necessary for continued college attendance, graduate and professional schools.
Peer-Counseling
The peer-counseling component provides new students with the transition and adjustment to the University.
Academic Advising
SSS works closely with departmental advisors to ensure that SSS students understand the many options available and requirements that must be met. All eligible students have the opportunity to meet with the SSS staff members to complete an individualized education plan which structures their academic goals.
Tutorial Assistance
Students may request academic assistance and tutoring through SSS. One-on-one peer tutoring is available in nearly all areas.
Career/Graduate School Counseling
SSS offers career exploration activities. Students are provided with timetable to and assistance with graduate school enrollment process.
Study Skills Seminars
Group workshops focusing on time management, test taking and note taking skills along with other types of workshops offered to enhance student academic performance.
