Request
for Proposals
Summer Research Grants 2006
The
Center for Excellence in Teaching is pleased to announce a request for
proposals for Summer Research Grants for 2006. Up to ten (10) Summer
Research Grants will be awarded up to the maximum amount of $1,500.
In addition, up to three (3) recipients will be selected as Bush Summer
Research Fellows based on the quality of their proposals. If warranted,
these individuals will receive an additional $500 to complete their
projects. No additional application is required for consideration for
the Bush Fellowships
Eligibility
All full-time faculty are eligible to submit applications. A faculty
member may submit only one application for consideration. Those who
have been selected for Summer Research Grants in previous years may
submit an application; however, previous awardees of the Bush Fellowships
will not be considered for the same level of funding for a period of
three years after the initial award.
Terms
of Award
Faculty will receive a grant of up to $1,500 with the expectation that
they will complete the proposed research project within the specified
time frame of Summer 2006. A written evaluation and campus presentation
of the project and/or results is required according to the published
guidelines of the Claflin University Center for Excellence in Teaching.
Review
Process
An interdisciplinary faculty and administrative panel will review all
applications. Applications will be judged on the basis of:
•
The quality and significance of the proposed research, scholarship,
or creative work;
• The commitment of the faculty member to devote significant time
to working on the project; and
• The role of the faculty member in the endeavor, including the
intellectual quality of the experience.
Application
Form
Applicants should complete the attached application
form and submit electronically to Dr. Cedric Adderley, Faculty Development
Coordinator, no later than Friday, April 28, 2006. Awards will be announced
by Friday, May 5, 2006. Please respond to cadderley@claflin.edu.
