Lab use Policies
Use of the resources and accounts on the computer system are privileges, not rights. Misuse of the resources may result in a loss of your computer privileges. Specific misuse includes:
Copying copyrighted software.
- Disturbing another person’s account and/or files.
- Using another person’s account.
- Downloading, viewing or distributing offensive material (for example pornography, profane language, etc.)
- Physically abusing the equipment removing hardware, software, or manuals from the Computer Lab without authorization.
In addition, there are several guidelines to help you and others get the most from the facility:
- Do not move equipment.
- Do not connect or disconnect any cables.
- Do not force diskettes in or out of floppy drives.
- Report problems to the lab assistant.
- NO food or drink are allowed in the lab
- NO games should be played in the lab.
- Work quietly and do not disturb others.
- When your work is done and a class is in session, leave quietly as possible.
- Leave promptly when a class is announced or the lab is closing.
- Clean up the work are around your station when you leave.
- Take your diskette with you.
- DO NOT TURN OFF the machines when leaving the lab.
- Conserve paper and toner by printing only final version or when you absolutely need a print out.
- Users may be asked to show their ID’s to the lab assistant, and will sign in when they enter the lab and sign out when they leave.
- Using headphone and other entertainment devices in the lab is prohibited.
- All policies governing student behavior in classrooms are applicable to the lab. This includes the use of the lab and internet for academic purposes only.
- The lab assistant is authorized to enforce these policies. Users violating any of these regulations will be asked to leave the lab, who will then report the matter to the appropriate administrator. Repeat offenders may be permanently banned from the lab.
