What to do when: You can’t log onto your computer or any computer on campus with your username and password.

Check the following:

  1. Ensure that the computer is not locked by another user. Usually when a computer is locked by another user you will see the following message:
‘This computer is in use and has been locked’‘Only CLAFLIN/JOHN.DOE (Doe, John) or and administrator can unlock this computer’
If a computer is locked by another user, you will need to turn the computer off and on. To do this, hold in the power button until the computer goes off, then turn it back on.
  2. Ensure that you are using the correct user name and password.
Usernames should be all lowercase letters and passwords should be at least
    6 characters long.
  3. Ensure that the CAPS lock is not turned on.
  4. Make sure you are logging onto the Claflin domain. If you cannot see the Log onto option, click the Options button on the log on screen and it should appear underneath the password option. Select Claflin from the drop down box.
  5. The network may be down. If the network is down, you will not be able to log onto your computer.
  6. Check to see if your network cable is loose.
