The library houses the following special collections:
The Black Collection
The Wilbur R. Gregg Black Collection contains books by and about African-Americans. A substantial portion of the Black Collection consists of material on microfilm from the famed Schomburg Collection. A microfilm reader-printer is available to provide copies, and the books can be checked out. These valuable gifts were presented to the library by the 3-M Company and the Hill Family Foundation. The Black Collection is located on the third floor of the H.V. Manning Library.
Juvenile Collection
This collection of books and materials for children and adolescents is used to support courses offered by the Department of Education. The Juvenile Collection is located in the back area of the third floor and the books may be checked out.
Special Collection
This collection contains rare material by and about Afro-Americans as well as materials pertaining to the history of Claflin University, the Methodist Church, and the state of South Carolina. The Special Collection is located on the third floor.
Archives
The Archives contain materials on the history of Claflin University. Access to this collection is by appointment only.
