Kod Igwe, Graduated with a Ph.D. in Art Education from The Pennsylvania StateUniversity, Kod Igwe is an artist par excellence. His research activities center on “A Semiotic Analysis of the Language of Art.” It is an intense semiological system to analyze the conditions that signs operate between art, objects and people. With his symbol-making propensity, Igwe builds sculptures into unique and recognizable African and American symbols. Igwe’s participation in national and international exhibitions is a testimony to his strength and extent of artistic research. Among the many noteworthy accomplishments, he is also a recipient of Fellowship in Cross Disciplinary Arts from the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts. He earned Master of Arts in Education from Rhode Island School of Design ( Providence, Rhode Island), and Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction in Textiles from the University of Portland ( Portland, Oregon), and California College of Arts and Crafts ( Oakland, California). He has been teaching in the department of Art at Claflin University for over 15 years.
