The Freshman College
“Building Character, Confidence, Pride, Memories, and
Pathways to Success”
Recognized by the John Templeton Foundation as an EXEMPLARY CHARACTER building program.

Character “Joan Didion once said that “Character-the willingness to accept responsibility for one’s own life-is the source from which self respect springs.” I completely agree with this statement. The definition of oneself is character because it says who you are and what you stand for. A person with good moral character displays all attributes needed- integrity, courage, and honesty- to have high self respect and be highly respected by others.”
Kristen Bell, Class of 2013, Spartanburg, South Carolina
Pride "Pride is having confidence. It is the way individuals carries themselves with dignity, representing their background and everything they do. Pride is upholding oneself to a high standard without shame in who they are. ”
Jasmine Snoddy, Class of 2013, Wellford, South Carolina

Memories "We have all come a
long way and still there lies a long road ahead. Through your long days of hard work, keep in mind that your success shall be granted in the end. Keep your head up, stay focused, and don’t forget to enjoy your college experience in the meantime.”
Bethany Henderson, Class of 2013, Spartanburg, South Carolina

Confidence “Confidence is a level of self esteem that can only be diminished or strengthened by you. CU’s Freshman College work extremely hard to assist in building and lifting our confidence level. Ms. Greene and her staff make sure that we first believe in ourselves, and then believe in our purpose. To have confidence is to be assured, secure, and to have faith. And that is what is instilled in me."”Timothy Ballard, Class of 2013, Detroit, Michigan
Pathways to Success “Pathways to success should consist of confidence, pride, and honor within yourself. You should set dreams and goals for your future and strive to complete those dreams and goals.”
Andrew Cureton, Class of 2013, Lancaster, South Carolina
