Advisement

In Education 101 and 102, courses help provide the first-year Claflin University student with knowledge about the University. Students are given an overview of the University’s history, purpose, organization, policies, and procedures. The courses also provide the student with information concerning

(1) the significance of this new experience;
(2) the value of education and career choice;
(3) the importance of getting off to a good start and remaining on track;
(4) the vast opportunities available through the University; and
(5) the requirements necessary for success during the college years and beyond.

Early Registration Date (ERD):

Early Registration is designed to give entering freshmen a head start on the registration process. On the ERD, prospective students take placement exams and meet with the Director of Residential Life, the Dean of Enrollment Management, and the Director of Financial Aid to ensure a smooth transition into the university atmosphere. Students also learn about Claflin’s rich history and traditions and the fiscal commitment required to attend Claflin University.

Student Leaders

Student leaders are upperclassmen with good character and morals. Each student leader is screened and interviewed by a committee. TFC assigns student leaders to small groups of incoming freshmen to help build meaningful bonds. The student leaders assist the incoming freshmen in utilizing all information and resources that are available to them.

TFC Tutorial Program

The tutorial program is held in the Bowen Hall Computer Laboratory. Freshman College tutorials are held Monday through Thursday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Upper-class students assist their peers in subjects including biology, chemistry, computer science, English, and mathematics.

University Tours

The Freshman College offers tours to any freshman or transfer student inquiring about Claflin University. Tours included lunch for only $5.
