New Recycling Bins on Campus

We welcome all students, faculty, staff and visitors to our campus to take advantage of the new recycling bins placed across the campus. Claflin University's recycling efforts currently focus on paper, plastic, aluminum and cardboard, but we hope to extend our efforts in the future.

PepsiCo Recycling Dream Machine

DID YOU KNOW? Recycling saves energy.
It takes 20 times more energy to make aluminum from bauxite ore than using recycled aluminum. (Source: Aluminum Association)

It takes only a small change in behavior to make a big difference for our planet. If every household in the U.S. recycled just three more plastic bottles, we could divert more than 23 million pounds of plastic from our landfills.

Aside from the inherent benefits that recycling has for keeping our planet green, by recycling in a Dream Machine, you’ll help support disabled U.S. veterans. PepsiCo has committed to donating $500,000 a year to Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities, and an additional $250,000 for every 10 million pounds of materials collected. Through the EBV program, post-9/11 disabled veterans can receive FREE training in 2 entrepreneurship and small business management so they can start their own businesses – the most American of all dreams.

Additionally, when you recycle your plastic bottles and aluminum cans in a Dream Machine kiosk you can earn points for local discounts on entertainment, dining and travel.
