Accreditation

Claflin University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097: Telephone number 404-679-4501) to award bachelors and Masters degrees. All degree programs are also approved by the University Senate of the United Methodist Church.

A number of academic units throughout Claflin University have earned national accreditation by their respective accrediting bodies. The University’s School of Business Administration is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) to offer the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Organizational Management as well as the Master of Business Administration.

The School of Education is accredited by the National Association for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and by the South Carolina State Board of Education.

The Department of Chemistry is accredited by the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Department of Music is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).

Several additional academic programs have been granted approval by their respective accrediting supervisory agencies including the Early Childhood Education program - National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC); the Elementary Education program - Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI); the English Education program - National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE); and the Mathematics Education program - National Council for Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).
