Admissions


Admission Requirements
  1. A non-refundable fee of $40 for U.S. Citizens and $55 international students (money order, certified or cashier’s check) should accompany the application. Visa, MC, Discover.
  2. The student has provided the Graduate Office with official transcript copies from ALL schools where undergraduate or graduate courses have been taken.
  3. The student has earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
  4. Minimum undergraduate GPA will be no less than 2.5/4.0
  5. Students accepted on a conditional basis will be allowed to take up to nine semester hours of core curriculum and must earn a 3.0/4.0.
  6. The student has provided the Admission Office with three letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with the student’s work record, academic record, and personal character. Letters of recommendation from family are NOT acceptable
  7. The student has provided the Admission Office with a current resume.
  8. 500 word essay
  9. The student has taken the GMAT and has had the scores submitted to the Admissions of Claflin University
  10. If the student’s native language is not English, the student has passed TOEFL with a score of 550 or better and has had scores submitted to the Admission Office.

MBA Admissions Procedures

  1. A three member Admissions Committee to include the Director of the
    MBA Program will be appointed yearly by the School of Business.
  2. Student’s GPA, GMAT score, letters of recommendation, personal
    statement, resume, professional experience and interview (if needed) are
    used to determine admission into the MBA program.
  3. Students accepted on a conditional basis will be allowed to take up to nine
    semester hours until the condition is satisfied.

MBA Admission Checklist

  • A completed application form is due by August 1st for fall admissions,
    December 1st for spring, and May 1st for summer Applications are
    considered on a rolling admissions basis and applicants will be notified
    approximately 30 days after the University received the completed application (including GMAT scores & student interview, if needed).
  • A non-refundable fee of $40 for U.S. Citizens and $55 international
    students should accompany the application.
  • The student has taken the GMAT and has had the scores submitted to the Graduate Office. It is suggested that you purchase the Guide to GMAT, published by ETS, as a study aid in preparing for the GMAT. A student can attend one semester without GMAT scores.
  • The student has earned a baccalaureate degree and has provided the
    Claflin University’s Graduate Office with an official transcript from ALL
    schools where all prior undergraduate or graduate courses have been taken. {Note: Claflin University will only accept 9 graduate semester hours from another university}.
  • The student has provided the Graduate Office with three recommendation letters of
    from individuals familiar with the student’s work record, academic record, and personal character.Recommendation lrtters from family are NOT acceptable. Two of the references should be from former instructors in your major area, unless you have been out of school for a year or more, in which case you may submit references from your supervisor, manager, or other persons of authority at your job.
  • An essay of approximately 500 words discussing the following three topics:
    • Career goals and the role the MBA degree will play in achieving these goals.
    • Reasons for selecting Claflin University’s Division of Business Administration and the anticipated area of concentration.
    • Personal strengths and areas where improvement is desired.
  • Students who are interested in financial aid should complete the Free
    Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Deadlines for completed
    forms are July 15 for fall, November 1 for Spring and March 15 for summer.
  • International Students: Earn a score of 550 on the Test of English as a
    Foreign Language (TOEFL) and submit to the Graduate Office.
