Admissions

All students entering the Department of Art at Claflin University will be placed in the Foundation Art sequence. The freshman and sophomoreart curriculums will be the same for all art majors at that time.Upon completion of the first semester of the sophomore year, students will then declare a major in one of the disciplines available within the department: ART EDUCATION, STUDIO ART. The student will then continue as outlined in their respective curriculum.

Procedures for Application for Admission to the Department of Art

Freshman may not apply until after mid-term of the second semester of the freshman year. Students may pick up application forms from the department.

students must have an average of “C” or a 2.0 GPA in general education courses.

students transferring from departments at the institution or from other institutions must also demonstrate an average of "C"r a 2.0 GPA in their general education courses.
