Course Description:  This is a survey of world history from the earliest times until

                                    1550.  You will cover the most important social, economic,

                                    technological, political, and cultural developments in Africa,

                                    Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas.

 

Required Text:            Richard W. Bulliet, et. al. The Earth and Its Peoples:  A

                                    Global History. 2nd edition, Volume I, (New York:  Houghton

                                    Mifflin, 2001).

 

Evaluation

Criteria:                      2 regular exams @ 15%

                                    Mid-term exam @ 25%   

                                    Final Exam @25%

                                    Modules 4 @5%


Grading Scale:  For all exams and the final grade

                                    90 -100 =A

                                    85 -  89 =B+

                                    80  -  84 =B

                                    75 -  79 =C+

 

                                    70 -  74 =C

                                    65 -   69 =D+

                                    60 -   65 =D

                                    Below   60 =F

 

Attendance:                Not required.  You are expected to spend 2-3 hours weekly  on this course independently.
