NATIONAL CHEMISTRY WEEK
This is an innovation of the American Chemical
Society geared to encourage student affiliate chapters to create “chemistry
awareness” among elementary, middle, high school and college
communities. This event, held in October every year, has a theme that
each affiliate chapter must follow in organizing their programs. CUSAACS
actively participates in National Chemistry Week. For example, in
2003, CUSAACS cleaned up the laboratories and hallway in the Chemistry
department and educated students on the chemical make-up of soaps
and detergents in honors of the theme “Chemistry Keeps Us Clean”.
