Now celebrating 137 years of excellence, Claflin has experienced rapid growth and national recognition. U.S. News & World Report, in its 2007 Guidebook to America’s Best Colleges and Universities, ranked Claflin in the Top Tier for the ninth consecutive year (1999-2007) among Comprehensive Colleges in the South for students pursuing bachelor’s degrees. Also, the national evaluator ranked Claflin in the top five Best Value category for four consecutive years (2004-2007).
Since 1994, the University has invested over $50 million in capital improvements. And, I am pleased to announce that alumni and friends have donated over $2.2 million toward the $3 million Chapel Fund. We expect the new University Chapel to be completed by the end of the year in 2006. Beyond restoration of historic buildings, beyond remarkable growth in enrollment and endowment, beyond the exceptional tradition of service to society by its graduates, Claflin University continues, day by day, rung by rung, to climb the ladder of academic achievement.
