Intercollegiate athletics have a long and proud tradition at Claflin. Men's and women's intercollegiate teams-known respectively as the Panthers and Pantherettes are competing at the NCAA Division II level, an affiliate of the SIAC, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

 The Orange Maroon Athletics Scholarship Association (OMASA) was created to promote and support Claflin University’s Intercollegiate Athletics Scholarship endownment.
