CLAFLIN UNIVERSITY, founded in 1869 and affiliated with The United Methodist Church, is recognized as one of the premier comprehensive institutions in the southeast.  The University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and offers broad based education in liberal arts and sciences combined with internships and other career focused programs.  The institution also has nationally accredited programs:  the Business program by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP); The teacher Education program by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE); The chemistry program by the American Chemical Society (ACS); and the Music program by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Biology. Major responsibilities include daily instruction of courses in the undergraduate and graduate biology program curricula as assigned each semester in accordance with the course syllabi, administration of exams, monitoring of student attendance, submission of final grades and other duties normally associated with course instruction. In addition to teaching, this position requires ongoing compliance wit the criteria for faculty performance in research and grantsmanship, faculty development, service to the University and the community, committee participation and other duties as assigned by administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. is required in the appropriate discipline.  Rank is dependent upon level of experience.  Official transcripts required upon appointment.  The successful candidate must have relevant teaching experience at the college level; a commitment to maintaining a research program with undergraduate student research assistants and must be able to provide direction and guidance to students, colleagues and customers.
