DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The Department of Biology seeks applicants for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position in the area of Environmental Science/Environmental Management. Claflin University will provide a grant supported start-up package and release time for the first two-year appointment. Specific responsibilities include daily instruction of courses in the undergraduate and graduate biology program curricula (as assigned each semester) in accordance with the course syllabi, administration of exams, monitoring of student attendance, submission of final grades and other duties associated with course instruction.   In addition to instructional responsibilities, this position will be responsible for developing an independently fundable research program for undergraduate and master’s level students training in environmental management.    The new faculty member will have an opportunity to work in a highly collaborative atmosphere with our faculty members who have been very successful at grant writing. 


QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Sciences or related disciplines and a diverse and innovative teaching style is desirable.   Rank is dependent upon level of experience.  The successful candidate must have relevant teaching experience at the college level; a commitment to maintaining a research program with undergraduate student research assistants and must be able to provide direction and guidance to students, colleagues and customers.
