DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES Report to the Assistant Vice President/Director of Admissions and Marketing. The Recruiter/Admissions Counselor is responsible for representing Claflin University at recruitment fairs and college day/night programs. Disseminates admissions materials and information to prospective students, parents, high school counselors, churches, alumni, community colleges and other civic organizations both in-state and out-of-state at local and national fairs. Make decisions on admission of high school applicants; serve as the liaison between students and high school counselors; process freshman applications, re-admit applicants, international and transfer students; coordinate interviews and counseling sessions with prospective students and their parents; assist with registration; and conduct campus tours. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

| QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree is required. Candidate must have at least one year experience working as an officer in admissions, in an admissions office at post secondary institution of higher learning; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with people from various social, educational and economic backgrounds. Must be able to work without constant supervision, make sound decisions and have a good moral judgment. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects and prioritize based on departmental functionality. Must have a high level of professional appearance and demeanor and have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Candidate must be able to establish priorities, work independently and utilize problem solving skills. The successful candidate must have excellent presentations skills. Sales, international admissions and transfer evaluations and marketing experience are a plus.
Special Requirement: Willing to travel extensively.
