DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES


The Archivist/Special Collections Librarian reports to the Library Director. Responsible for collecting, maintaining, preserving, arranging, describing, and making accessible the records of the University Archive. This includes the creation of finding aids, proper descriptive analysis of collections, maintenance of statistics, budgetary development, and staff supervision. The Archivist is responsible for user assistance, education, community outreach, grant writing, and preservation and disaster-response training. Perform any other duties within the scope of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate must possess an ALA-accredited MLS degree or a Master’s degree in history or a related field. Knowledgeable of preservation, maintenance and storage of historical materials and objects is required. The applicant must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, writing, communications, and computer skills. The successful candidate must possess a minimum of three or more years of relevant archival or academic experience.
