CLAFLIN UNIVERSITY, founded in 1869 and affiliated with The United Methodist Church, is recognized as one of the premier comprehensive institutions in the southeast. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES |
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT
Claflin University seeks an Executive Vice President to assist the President with the day-to-day internal management and operations of the University and acts for the President in every area as may be delegated in carrying out the responsibilities of the Office of the President.
The Executive Vice President will provide expertise and senior level administrative support for projects related to the presidential initiatives and priorities, program development and enhancements, technological and globalization efforts, and State and Federal agenda of the University; manage the President’s Office; manage and coordinate all activities of the Board of Trustees, President’s Cabinet, Extended Cabinet, and the Administrative Conference meetings; provide oversight for the Office of Human Resources and the Department of Athletics; and serve as special contact or liaison for University constituents and external contacts.
The Executive Vice President will manage the coordination of special projects; serve as liaison between the President’s Office and other major administrative officers; and represent the President at meetings and other functions.
The Executive Vice President is a member of the President’s Cabinet reporting directly to the President. Provide administrative leadership, direction, guidance, and scholarly vision. Responsible areas of leadership include: President’s Office, management of the Board of Trustees activities, and assisting the President in day-to-day oversight of the Office of Human Resources and the Department of Athletics.

| QUALIFICATIONS |
Candidates for the position must possess the following qualifications: a minimum of ten years of experience with increasing levels of administrative responsibility; five years of experience in a senior higher education position; knowledge of educational administration, research and teaching; and management and strategic planning experience. The successful candidate must be able to establish professional relationships with colleagues at all levels; handle multiple tasks and deal with constant interruptions and deadlines; and exercise significant independent judgment. The applicant must have the ability to lead discussions on University issues and topics; absolute discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information; computer and internet proficiency; and exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
