Human Resources Generalist
Department:Office of Human Resources

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the leadership of the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist will provide professional level support by performing duties in the Human Resources functional areas of recruitment and selection, benefits management, compliance, classification/compensation, staff development, reporting, and payroll functions.  He/she will be responsible for all aspects of recruiting, including but not limited to, writing and placing advertisements internally and externally, screening applications, interviewing, collecting documentation, finalizing the selection process, and conducting new employees orientation.  The HR Generalist will perform benefits administration to include enrollment, change reporting, reconciling monthly benefit bills, open enrollment, developing training workshops, and communicating benefit information to employees.  He/she will coordinate and conduct activities associated with staff development, succession planning and career development; classification/compensation; on-boarding and exiting of employees; and HRIS administration and management.  He/she will report and process worker’s compensation and risk management claims. The Human Resources Generalist will provide assistance in evaluation of reports and results of department in relation to established goals; assist with controlling legal risks; recommend new approaches, policies and procedures, and operational processes to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed; and will assume other duties assigned by the Director of Human Resources.  He/she will maintain compliance with federal and state regulations and University policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Personnel Administration or a related field is required with a minimum of three to five years of senior level HR experience.   The successful candidate must possess considerable knowledge of the principles and practices for personnel recruitment, selection, benefits, training, compensation, employee relations, and personnel systems; and the laws and policies governing its application and organizational functions.  The applicant must possess some knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services to include customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.  The candidate must possess at least two to three years of experience working with automated or Human Resources/Payroll Information Systems.  Jenzabar experience is a plus. The successful candidate must be detailed, organized and analytical; possess excellent oral and written communication skills; and sound decision making skills.  Previous experience as an HR Generalist or HR Analyst is strongly preferred; however, specialized experience in one of the HR functional areas may be considered.

SALARY RANGE:  $30,000 - $35,000 Annually
