DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES The Laboratory Administrative Assistant for the Claflin University Forensics DNA Laboratory reports to the Dean, School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for keeping track of all the laboratory exercises and experiments that are part of the Forensic Biotechnology instructions, and maintaining all of the reagents and supplies. He/she will prepare the reagents and set-up the laboratory exercises for the students and will provide assistance to instructor(s) as needed; prepare e-requisitions for laboratory supplies, lab manuals and research training kits. Provide assistance to students and perform other assigned administrative duties.

| QUALIFICATIONS
A BS or BA degree in Biological Sciences or a related discipline is strongly preferred. Candidate must be knowledgeable of laboratory safety practices and procedures. Applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have a working knowledge of other automated systems. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students in the laboratory, complete assigned tasks; develop and manage a scientific recordkeeping system inclusive of MSDS files; and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Previous senior level experience working as an administrative assistant in a laboratory is strongly preferred. Educational training may be substituted for level of work experience.
