DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The Laboratory Coordinator will report to the Director of SC Center for Biotechnology.  The Coordinator is responsible for the operation of multiple instruments involved in research projects; and ordering the supplies, lab manuals, and research training kits. Analyze data from the instrument output and be able to teach undergraduate students the basics of various methods that are being used. Maintain a record of lab exercises and experiments that are part of biotechnology instructions and all of the reagents and supplies.  Prepare, monitor and maintain a record of expenditures in appropriate categories.  Perform other required duties within the scope of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or Biotechnology is preferred.  A bachelor’s degree is required. The candidate must have a working knowledge of biology/molecular biology instruments and methods. Applicant must possess excellent communication and customer service skills, and be able to work independently.  Previous experience working as a Laboratory Coordinator/Manager and advance molecular biology instrumentation is strongly preferred.
