DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The Senior Accountant reports to the Associate Vice President for Fiscal Affairs. He/she will provide assistance with the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules; provide assistance with the maintenance of the University’s system of accounts and records accounting transactions; does computations and applies the various depreciation rates to capitalized items; collects data and prepares monthly reconciliations for accounts within the accounting area; and coordinates data from external departments where monthly reconciliation between the fiscal area and those external areas are required. Provides assistant with the coordination and preparation of the budget process cycle, and performs other duties assigned by supervisor within scope of position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field is required. Candidate must have considerable knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices; demonstrated ability to apply and adapt accounting principles and methods to a variety of fiscal needs; and assemble, analyze and prepare reports and statements covering complex financial data. An in-depth knowledge of Jenzabar EX and its applications, and matriculating towards CPA certification is a major preference. Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills are essential. The candidate selected must be able to provide direction and guidance to constituents and work with minimum supervision. Previous extensive senior level accounting experience is required.
