Claflin University alumni presented its alma mater with a $25,000 donation this month.
“We are glad we can give back to our University. It speaks volume of our alumni that we are able to consistently and constantly contribute to the future of our alma mater,” said Liz Zimmerman Keitt, '70, president of the Claflin University International Alumni Association.
Keitt said the CUIAA is organizing and expanding so that the organization can give even more in the future.
The CUIAA makes a donation to Claflin at the beginning of each academic year to support the University's campus activities.
Claflin University has one of the highest alumni giving rates in the nation at 43 percent, earning it a number one ranking by U.S. News and World Report among Historically Black College and Universities in the category the past two years. The University is strategically working toward becoming the first HBCU with a 50 percent annual alumni giving rate.
“We are so grateful for the generous contributions made by the Claflin University International Alumni Association year after year,” said President Dr. Henry N. Tisdale. “When our alumni continue to give back it inspires others to do the same. Their loyalty and support are allowing future generations to experience a world-class education.”
