Rev. Granville Hicks, ‘57
Clergy and laity from churches across South Carolina and beyond will gather at Claflin University to discuss the church's role in leadership.
The annual Granville Hicks Leadership Academy for Laity and Clergy will be held on the Claflin campus from Thursday, Feb. 23 to Friday, Feb. 24.
The keynote speaker for this year's academy is Dr. Walter E. Fluker, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Professor of Ethical Leadership at the Boston University School of Theology. In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the academy, Rev. Granville Hicks,' 57, will speak at a special luncheon on Feb. 24. The theme for this year's academy is “The Church as a Model for Ethical Leadership for Our Nation.”
“This is a great annual occasion for people of faith to share ideas and fellowship together,” said President Dr. Henry N. Tisdale. “Utilizing the vision of Rev. Hicks, the Leadership Academy has grown to become a prominent event for our state's religious leaders during the past two decades.”
