Claflin University is pleased to announce the appointment of Allen M. Jackson as its new director of the annual fund and alumni relations.

Claflin University is inviting the community to support scholarships for deserving students at is annual United Negro College Fund Community Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. This year’s keynote speaker will be the Rev. Sam W. Richardson, pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in St. Matthews.

Brad McClam, a 2005 Claflin University graduate, has been selected to present his research on Hurricane Hugo at the National Weather Association’s annual meeting in Madison, Wisconsin next month.

Thomas E. Kennedy, acclaimed author of many works of fiction and literary criticism, will give the keynote address and conduct a fiction workshop at the 11th Annual Claflin University Regional English and Language Arts Pedagogy Conference to be held in Ministers’ Hall on October 3-4, 2012.

Orangeburg artist Floyd Gordon, ’80, will be officially inducted into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame on Friday, Sept. 28, in Atlanta for his achievement in the field of the arts.
