Freshmen Tutorial Programs
Tutoring provides one-on-one attention to students to enhance their academic development.
The Freshman College provides one-on-one and group tutorial sessions to freshmen at Claflin University. Tutoring is available in the Bowen Hall Freshman Computer Laboratory Monday thru Thursday between the hours of 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Upper class students majoring in subject areas assist students in biology, chemistry, computer science, english, and mathematics. TFC promotes and encourages individuals who are experiencing difficulty in specific subject areas to utilize the tutorial service. TFC tutorial program walk-in hours are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily.
Please remember if you need assistance in writing, you should visit the Writing Center located in the Grace Thomas Kennedy (GTK) building. The Writing Center is available to assist in writing in all disciplines.
Mentoring
At Claflin University, everyone has the opportunity to serve as a mentor. A mentor can be a professor, an upper classman, or even your roommate. Our professors are ready to take new freshmen under their wings and mentor them in not only academics, but also in life skills.
