My research focuses on the dynamics of the spatial, cultural, and socio-economic reconstruction of rural settlements in Eastern European countries after 1989 as well as Downtown revitalization efforts in the Sun Belt area of the United States.  I am concurrently working on several projects that involve areas such Planning & Development, Environmental studies, and GIS. One ongoing project consists of a Infrastructure Development and undergraduate research grant funded project in which I train students to perform an audit of a section of the Orangeburg Downtown area, apply surveys, analyze data, and prepare the final presentation. We are also preparing a video presentation that includes interviews with students, administration, faculty, staff from Claflin University, as well as interviews with local authorities in relation to their perception of the current status of the area and opportunities for developing a future college village.
