CLAFLIN CROSS COUNTRY OPENS SEASON

The Claflin University Men's and Women's cross country teams opened the 2007-08 season at the Winthrop-Asics Invitational this past Saturday. In the men's race, Claflin finished in 5th place with 139 points. The winning team was Mars Hill who finished with 47 points. (Low Scores Win). In the Women's race Claflin finished 7th with 205 points. The winning team Birmingham-Southern scored 29 poinnts. The best finishers for Claflin's men was Fredrick Smith 12 place overall with a time of 27:20 for 5 miles. Women's top finisher was Lakeya Sanders 36th place with a time of 24:38 for 3 miles.

In a dual meet with Benedict College, Claflin's men lost 20-36. The Claflin women also lost by the score of 19-40.

The next race for Claflin will be at Paine College on October 3, 2007.
