Claflin Loses Tough Game To Morehouse. The battle of two undefeated teams matched up for head-to-head combat, on Tuesday evening, in the Franklin L. Forbes Arena on the campus of The intensity was in the air as the Tigers of Morehouse College (3-0) defeated the Claflin University Panthers (1-1) 75-61. The second half action was furious as Claflin found them selves down by 14 points 50-36 with 14:31 remaining in the contest. The Panthers would cut the lead to nine points only once in the second half 44-53 at the 12:20 mark, on a free- throw by Karl Ray. The action got even hotter when Morehouse center Kenny Boyd was whistled for a flagrant technical foul against Panther guard Jamaal Newman, with 3:37 left to play. Boyd was ejected on the play. That was not enough as the Tigers went on to the 14 point victory. The first half was a see-saw game as the score was tied 6 times the last at 17, with 10:32 mark. The next three minutes the Tigers of Morehouse went on an 8-0 run to go ahead 27-19, with 7:22 left in the opening 20 minutes. However the Panthers went on a 10-2 run to close the margin to one 29-30. Morehouse closed out the scoring for the half, scoring the final 8 points. Going into the locker room with a 9 point advantage, 38-29.Karl Ray led the Panthers in the first half with 10 points followed by Eric Sally with 6 points off the bench. Brandon Stoner led Morehouse with 9 points, followed by Travis Floyd with 8 points. Jason Reese led all scorers and Morehouse with 23 points. Brandon Stoner collected 17 points.
