Lady Trojans Outlast Lady Panthers 70-58

 

 

Anderson, SC- Eighteen hours removed from the hardwood in a 55-53 loss to Fort Valley State University. The Lady Panthers (5-3) were warming up for another contest. This time it was the Lady Trojans (7-1) of Anderson University.

 

The Lady Panthers and Lady Trojans played on equal terms in the first half, with the score deadlocked 27-27 at intermission.

 

The Lady Trojans opened up a close game with 3:45 to go leading 55-50, as Claflin’s Jayshaun Bailey committed her fifth foul. The Lady Trojans took advantage of their superior size inside. With Bailey on the bench with five fouls and freshman center LaSaundra Barron out, due to a knee injury. AU dominated the boards, by retrieving every defensive rebound, and getting second and third attempts each time down the floor, to outscore CU 15-8 to secure their seventh win of the season.

 

Keana Boyd led all scorers with 23 points for the Lady Trojans. Florida State University transfer Nikki Anthony Added 20 points.

 

The Lady Panthers were led by Britani Martin with 18 points.  Jayshaun Bailey ended the afternoon with 11 points.

 

The Lady Panthers end their 8 day road trip Tuesday against the Lady Tigers of Tuskegee University, in Tuskegee, AL.
