A popular international radio talk show invited Dr. Zia Hasan, Vice President for Planning, Assessment and Information Services, to give his assessment of President George Bush's State of the Union Address on Janaury 24, 2007. During his exchange with Ms.Shegoftah Nasreen Queen, host for "Hello Washington", he gave the history of the State of the Union address starting from the presidency of George Washington. Dr. Hasan analyzed President Bush's domestic agenda which included topics such as No Child Left Behind, health insurance and immigration. Dr. Hasan emphasized that No Child Left Behind is widely non-funded and difficult to implement without adequate resources. Giving his opinion on domestic policy, Dr. Hasan stated that the U.S. Senate must face the new reality of immigration. Dr. Hasan also gave an assessment of the presidential candidates for the 2008 race for the White House.
