Panthers at Work Mentoring Program

The University invites and encourages alumni and professionals of all industries to serve as career mentors for current Claflin students. The program provides an opportunity to increase students' support and success, while being guided by their mentor, as they work to achieve professional and personal goals.

The program is designed not to interfere with busy schedules, as engagement with the mentee can occur via email or telephone calls each month. The role of the mentor includes assisting students with: resume writing; mock interviews; workplace etiquette; potential job shadowing; internship and full-time opportunities; and career exploration coaching. Student mentees value learning about industry-related best practices from mentors and use these skills to excel in their field.

Join the Claflin University Panthers at Work Mentoring program. Alumni and others are invited to volunteer to assist current Claflin students with career-related best practices. An important aspect about the program is that it barely interferes with your busy schedule – usually involving just a few emails or telephone calls per month.

Panthers at Work Mentoring is a great resource for current students. It provides access to alumni who truly want to assist students in the following areas: Locating employment and internships with your employer; determining their major and career aspirations; writing their resume and cover letter; discussing what the job consists of and researching career options with an employer and many more attributes.
