Claflin senior Jalen Langley is the perfect definition of Claflin Magic.
From his works on and off of Claflin’s campus to joining organizations like Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and the Student Government Association, Jalen has shown that you can have the full college experience while also chasing your dreams.
“My biggest accomplishment was definitely the Panther Film Festival because it gave students the opportunity to put their work out there and show what they are capable of in the Mass Communications Department,” he said.
During his time at Claflin University, Jalen was also blessed with the opportunity to write the TV sitcom, “Hanging with the Taylors.”
“My favorite professor gave me the opportunity. He is very good friends with Stacie Davis, the creator of the show. She reached out to me over the summer and asked me to come aboard as a writer for the show. I was very excited and proud of myself. The skills that I learned at Claflin really made me confident in writing the show.”
He continued, “The most valuable lesson that I learned at Claflin is that if I don't take the initiative and keep myself motivated, then the projects I want to get done won't.”
Jalen is also one of the three Claflinites in his family.
“The things they did at Claflin really resonated with me. My older sister got to gain a lot of new relationships which I admired and led me to open myself up to making new friendships.”
As to his upcoming plans after college, Jalen said, “I plan to take a small break and raise up my money so I can move up to Atlanta and find a job at Tyler Perry studios or another studio there.”
