Ms. ‚ÄčTabitha Ott

Tabitha is an Orangeburg native who is dedicated to the success of Claflin students. She believes art is powerful and can serve as a tool for communication to all people


Tabitha is an artist who creates wearable art from a variety of materials including found objects, metal, and plastic. She is encourages experimentation among her students in addition to outside-the-box problem solving. Tabitha realizes each student is unique and urges them to follow their ideas and intuitions. Not only does she offer assistance with class projects, but with professional needs such as artist resumes and promotional materials.


  • MFA in Jewelry/Metals from Kent State University
  • BFA in Sculpture with a concentration in Jewelry/Metals from Winthrop University

  • Alternative Materials in Art making
  • Wearable Art
  • Exploring the meanings and roles of wearable art in society
  • Formal & Conceptual aspects of art


As an educator Tabitha draws from her experience as an adjunct and full time instructor, as a practicing artist, and her time as a graduate teaching assistant.
