The official introduction of the men's and women’s basketball teams and the cheer team was announced at the Panther Midnight Madness annual event Oct. 18 in the JTK arena.

It was hosted by Athletic Director Matisee Lee and Tiktok star and Claflin undergraduate student Faybo. Students began to pack the gym at 9 p.m. and the activities started at 9:30.

The cheer team, formally introduced as “ Da’CrUw,” was first to be announced. They introduced a total of 11 girls, with two of them being captains.

Da’CrUw performed a cheer and dance routine after they were announced.

The women’s and men’s basketball teams showed excitement as they entered the gym one by one while the crowd cheered them on.

Junior Kofi Springs said, “I look forward to seeing all the teams this upcoming season.”

President Dwaun J. Warmack was in attendance cheering on the teams as well.

The Panther Midnight Madness event included special performances and crowd-participating games such as a basketball shoot-off. Coaches participated in a series of competitive games.

Both dance organizations Liquid Gold and Ice Cold Dance Crew gave the crowd a great performance. This was a crowd favorite.

The event ended with everyone dancing on the gym floor.
