Program Outcomes and National Nursing Standards

The BSN Essentials document serves to transform baccalaureate nursing education by providing the curricular elements and framework for building the baccalaureate nursing curriculum for the 21st century. These Essentials address key stakeholder recommendations and landmark documents that identify the core knowledge required of all healthcare professionals.

The BSN and MSN programs at Claflin University integrate the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials, including the updated 2021 AACN Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education. These competencies guide curriculum design, assessment, and evaluation to ensure graduates are prepared to deliver safe, equitable, evidence-based, person-centered care in an evolving healthcare environment.
