Claflin Students Win Award at Computer Science Event

Feb 13, 2019
Nineteen students from Claflin University attended the "CUHackit" event hosted by Clemson University on January 26 through 27. At this 24-hour invention marathon, students from different academic disciplines collaborated in small teams to create solutions to real problems. Ultimately, a hackathon empowers participants in the design process through creativity and hands-on learning.

CUHack"Taking the students to this event  provided an experiential learning   opportunity," said Dr. Cheryl Swanier, associate professor of computer science. "As an institution, we have to become a classroom without walls." Swanier accompanied the students to the event.

Congratulations to Shilpa Kannan, computer science major; Emmanuel Ndubuisi, computer science major, Anna Swanier, computer science major; and Frederick Uy, business major who won the Beginner Hack Award.
