Service is crucial in upholding Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, the president of Gamma Nu Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. says.
Rahnie Riggins joined other members of the Gamma Nu Chapter in stocking Unity Fellowship Community Church’s food pantry and packaging 400 C.H.I.P.P. packages for local youth during the MLK Day of Service.
“We take pride in upholding his vision by committing ourselves to service to all mankind through meaningful and impactful action,” Riggins said.
The MLK Day of Service strives to honor King’s legacy of service and to continue fostering community and togetherness.
Riggins’ drive to serve comes from a desire to give back to the communities that have uplifted and supported her. Likewise, the sorority shares the same purpose.
“Service is the foundation of Alpha Kappa Alpha, and we remain committed to uplifting communities for as long as there is a need,” she said.
