Claflin University 2018 Homecoming concert was not what the students and staff expected.

Tuesday night Claflin students dressed up in their best and were ready to listen to the artists chosen for Homecoming.

Around 9 p.m., security told a large number of students waiting in line for nearly half an hour that they were over capacity and weren’t letting anyone else in.

“It is 9:12 p.m. The security guards are saying they aren’t letting anybody else in. I have a white ticket for Homecoming. I’m confused to why can’t I get into my own Homecoming. This is my senior year. I like these artists. My Homecoming fees are included in my tuition,” mass communications major and senior Demarie Deas said.

Charkinah Adams, graduate student, said, “I graduated from Claflin last year and I am surprised how crowded the events are. … To be told I can’t get into the concert, this is a disappointment.”

“Right now, I am very disappointed in Claflin staff and very disappointed in their security staff. We have been out here for hours and hours. We paid for our tickets already and they won’t let us in. That is a very big problem,” mass communications major Tymiah Tyler said.
