Claflin Student Wins Best Poster Presentation in Biochemistry Award at National Conference

Shree posing with his selected best posterClaflin University junior Shree Kushwaha, a biochemistry major, won Best Poster Presentation in Biochemistry at the 2013 National American Biomedical Conference for Minority Students in Nashville, Tenn., on Sunday, Nov 17.

Approximately 3,300 students attended the conference, and some 1,700 undergraduates presented posters in various divisions. Kushwaha competed against 400 other poster presenters in the biochemistry section and was awarded Best Poster Presentation honors along with 20 other students.

“I feel so honored to win the Best Poster Presentation award at ABRCMS conference and to represent Claflin,” Kushwaha said, thanking Claflin professors Dr. Nick Panasik, Dr. Ramachandran Saraswathi, his lab mates and the University for their support. “I was being judged by scientists from Cornell University, Johns Hopkins University and other universities.”

Students competing at the conference represented schools in 46 states.
