Claflin University Celebrates Religious Emphasis Week

Claflin University kicked off its annual Religious Emphasis Week on Sunday, February 9, 2014, and events will continue through Thursday, February 13, 2014.

Inside Claflin's ChapelA series of prolific guests are scheduled to speak, and Claflin’s D.R.E.A.M. Gospel Choir will participate in praise and worship Sunday through Wednesday. A special guest will lead in song on Thursday evening.

University chaplain the Rev. Kevyn Amos led the morning worship service at 9:30 Sunday in the James and Dorothy Z. Elmore Chapel. The Rev. Larry D. McCutcheon, senior pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church, will speak at 6 p.m. Monday; visiting assistant professor Dr. David M. Battle will be the featured speaker at 6 p.m. Tuesday; and Dr. Johnny B. Hill, interim chair of Claflin’s Department of Philosophy and Religion, will address those gathered at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Claflin’s Religious Emphasis Week celebration will conclude at 6 p.m. Thursday with special guests, the Kingdom Life 4G Youth and Young Adult Choir and Pastor James Rowson of Kingdom Life Ministries.

All events will be held in the James and Dorothy Z. Elmore Chapel and are open to the public. For more information, call 803-535-5186.
